The Gastric Sleeve – commonly known as the Sleeve, or sometimes Sleeve Gastrectomy – is a newer weight loss procedure that removes approximately 75-85% of the stomach. After this surgery, patients eat significantly less food and feel full more quickly. The sleeve is irreversible. Because the sleeve does not include removal of any of the intestines, it does not have the same risks of mal-absorption that the gastric bypass can have. Please watch this brief video to learn about the sleeve procedure:

Dr. Misra performs the sleeve, and is happy to discuss this and other weight loss surgery options with you, to help you decide if it is the right option for you. You can contact her here.
